Itchy paws?? Think Gut First!

If your dog is constantly licking their paws, and you’ve tried everything—creams, washes, changing their food—but it just keeps coming back… you’re might be treating the wrong area. Because itchy paws are very rarely just a paw problem. From a naturopathic perspective, paw licking is often a sign of something deeper going on internally—especially in the gut and immune system.

When the gut becomes inflamed or imbalanced, it can drive something called a histamine response… and that shows up in very specific places in the body—like the paws, ears, and skin. So if your dog’s feet are red, irritated, or constantly being chewed… this might actually be your first clue that their body is struggling to process inflammation properly.
